Lotus Lens Screening: Manila in the Claws of Light
Join our signature monthly movie night series, Lotus Lens Screening, hosted at Blooms Emporium Chinatown on Thursday, March 26, 7-10 pm. This ongoing gathering (on the last Thursday of every month) is an invitation to slow down, watch films from Asia and the diaspora, and come together in community through shared reflection. Each evening will begin with a film screening followed by an intimate discussion for those who’d like to stay and reflect together. Our March screening features Manila in the Claws of Light (1975), directed by Lino Brocka: "Mixing visceral, documentary-like realism with the narrative focus of Hollywood noir and melodrama, Manila in the Claws of Light is a howl of anguish from one of the most celebrated figures in Philippine cinema."

Celebrating our 4 years of Corazón a Corazón in collaboration with Blooms Emporium and ATL Chinatown, on March 21st from 6-9:30 pm. We will be curating a lineup of poets and musicians to commemorate this milestone! You can expect a variety of styles of poetry, music, and expression. This vinyl-listening and writing session aims to explore the discography of Chicano Batman, a band known for their expansive style, poetic lyricism, and nod to soul music. Together, we will listen to a curated selection of songs spanning multiple albums from their discography. Throughout the listening experience, we allocate time for writing, reflection, and group discussions. The experience is designed to be welcoming and accessible to listeners and writers of ALL levels and backgrounds. "So Much Love To Give" - Poetry Readings and Open Mic
Join us for our first event of the year in collaboration with Blooms Emporium and ATL Chinatown, on January 24th from 6-9:30 pm. The theme for the night will be "So Much Love To Give", which explores the abundance of this world, the ways others express their love, and what makes us want to share that love and abundance with others.
For the first part of this event, you can enjoy poetry and musical performances from local artists, poets, and writers who will explore our theme for the night. We have hand-picked and curated these performers ahead of the night. The second portion of the event consists of an open mic, so anyone in attendance can sign up during the course of the event to participate.
